For students embarking upon their major media project in Year 12, the best sources of advice are often students who have gone through the experience previously.
On Brett Lamb’s Lessonbucket website, he has interviewed a number of students who have created films that have been selected for Top Screen, an exhibition of high quality work from Victorian media students.
You can see all of these interviews on the Filmmaking Advice page of Lessonbucket.
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne has also spoken to some past student filmmakers whose work has been selected in Top Screen. They each provide three filmmaking tips as well.
You can also see a number of Top Screen films on the Opening Class Top Screen Playlists.
Finally, you can check out a list of tips to help you avoid common errors that are often made by student filmmakers.
